Improv in RED

Again a "something"  in RED...just to indulge my  mood color.

I made the blocks (5" squared) few months ago ,  but now I would like to sew them together for a small wall quilt.   

All Red (...and a bit of purple) !

 

A few more little patches for the All RED improv  mosaic quilt.

 It will grow again !

On the design wall and in my life

The red  blocks are samplers for a Improvisational Patchwork class.

They are about 5" and to make them is a big fun.

The amazing appliqè circles made by my special friend Claudia are the start for a new project I have in mind.

One week ago, the burglars devastated my home. Little Trudy save herself behind a sofa and we all are safe. They kept just few cash and my pc ( this is why I stayed so long away to blogland)... but we have had a lot of damage...definitely not a good period.

Just to play...

To finish the LOVE quilt have stirred  in me the joy to play with fabrics without rules and patterns!

...maybe an upcoming project...

A new block

I tried today a new funny block. I saw it some time ago on a blog (sorry I really don't remember where) but you just can consider it an evolution of the asterisk block of which find a good tut here or here

As usually no a definite project for this block but only the fun to experiment something new !

Unruly letters

Today I received the Tonya's book! It's great and colorful...

I love it!

I like so much the Tonya's quilts, her way to make letters and her stunning and unconventional hand quilting.

She is a great inspiration source and I'm happy to have her book.

Following her technique the last year I made the LOVE quilt (waiting for the right quilting inspiration ).

And, two or three years ago, the words for a little baby blanket.

Very very first free pieced letters experiment...really stiff and not so much liberated! :-)

Slow progress

The LOVE quilt goes on so slow...but I can share some little progress. I have decided on a layout with sashing that add a touch of light to the dense colors of the blocks.

To make a no regular grid has been less easy as I expected...

I made nine love blocks...now I have to take some "hard" decisions:

....to make more blocks to have a big LOVE quilt or to stop to have a wall quilt?

...and in the second case to choose a layout with or without sashing?

For now they are waiting for me on the design wall.
