It was made by my friend Claudia .

But it's my next goal...will I be able to?  

Appliquè

To work with the Japanese appliquè technique is , at the moment , that I love most.

Dusty colors , little pieces , easy shapes...and the houses are always a beautiful subject.

 

 

I'm working on a little "something" (maybe a wall quilt maybe a cushion) ...

but , as you know , the fun is the journey not the destination.

A little gift for a friend

What could I do to return the super kindness of Chris of Cats on my quilts who has shipped to me the beloved New England coffee?...but a cup of coffee!...

...better if two!...

...and better again if with some colorful borders!

Appliquè class

Last Saturday I took a very inspiring class about appliquè. I liked so much the teacher, a sweet and talented woman,that make wonderful Baltimora stile quilts with a greats color and motion sense.

I learned same new and interesting things about papers and glues.


Since coming back home I planned how to turn in my way the new lesson.

I made perfect patterns and drew shape on the background fabric.

And this is the first block I made...

And a new one is on the way...

A new book for a new way

This nice book learns a new and easy way in appliquè.

It's very fun to use the machine stitch as a pencil.

The result is less fine and careful that with the traditional technique,of course, but, maybe, more lively and certainly more quick.


I have made a block with the "portrait" of Trudy to complete the Christmas quilt.


She is very proud of it!

Someting new

On the floor of my work room there is a new growing project.

Various stripes of green, red and withe fabrics and appliqè patches.

Trudy help me to find the better blocks disposition.

Hope I could have the time to end the quilt for Christmas.

1 quilt and 3 birthdays

Aren't this chickens the cutest you never see?

My friend Claudia has made them and I have take a pic to share with you!

The birthdays of my friends are all between the end of July and the end of August....

....so we have met to celebrate with a gorgeous cake and a lot of pink candles....

....but we have one birthday still to celebrate....

Return

I have had a lot to do after 10 days of vacation....a lot washing machines to do, a big heap of clothes to press, to begin working again, to cuddle a lot Lavinia, a lot of kisses to give to Trudy, and so on. But, of course, I have had a few time for the patchwork too.

I have made 2 new months for the wool felt blanket...(12-mounths-blanket)

March with a different rabbit shape (I think it needs more colors...)

and December that I have changed all...

and also I have decided the background for the incomplete mounths.

I would make a sampler quilt with some patches in yellow and blue to explain my second level patchwork class.
