Fabric box mania

A new fabric box made in a different way. The result is a softer box with a nice X design on the bottom. I have used a different fabric for each side to underline the pattern. Thanks Elena for the very nice idea !!

...but I have made a new one following the first way. The inside is with different fabrics ... I like it so much !

I have made some sampler patches for two different upcoming classes...

...the colors are away from my comfort zone...just springlike.

But I love the color shades of Kaffe Fasset fabrics (printed and shot cottons) I have chosen and hope to be able to put the patches all together when finished to make a quilt like this but in different colors.

The random colors layout is okay...but there was something that didn't make me totally satisfied...

...then I have understood...the colors contrasting was too low , too "flat"!

I have added the black dotted fabric and now I like as it turn out much more...

And having a look to the Nifty Quilts last post I have had the confirm of my doubts ...

...look what a nice high contrasting baby tumbler quilt!

Again winter colors

Again winter colors for the first project of this year.

I like the tumbler pattern but I never used it before...

I think it's perfect to use with fabrics that I didn't want to cut in too much little pieces

(I love the big red-gray dots fabric!) .

Here is how the project start to grow on my design wall...

The first (and more spontaneous) layout is with random colors ....

...any suggestion for a different one?

Last time Christmas decoration tutorial

You need: wool felt balls (three different size), bits of black and orange felt, two little wooden sticks. Stitch eyes,smile and buttons with a black thread...and make the nose rolling a tiny orange felt piece between fingers. Roll a piece of black felt to make the upper part of the hat. Add nose and hat at the head with the help of few drops of hot glue.

Use hot glue to make the body adding the two largest felt balls and , at last , add the head too.

Add the wooden sticks for the arms and a scrappy fabric stripe for the scarf....

...and enjoy your very last time Christmas tree decoration !

For this project with my new Go! Baby AccuQuilt I have chose some Christmas fabrics scraps and I have made a striped piece...than I have cut it into 60° stripes...

....with the fabric cutter I have got PERFECT 60° scrappy diamonds easily and super speedy ...

...with a really little waste.

I have made the same with the background fabric...8 diamonds in just one deed ! Great!

And this is my first Christmas star....cute, isn't it?

For the Blogger Quilt Festival this year I have choesen the quilt I have finished just today. The red-black stripes quilt have now a red dotted binding sewed by machine. I'm not totally satisfied for the result...

...but I love the quilt colors and the design of the front and the back side. Thanks to Amy for organizing the festival and remember to visit and enjoy the many beautiful quilts from the whole world!

I made the fabric scrap box using this very clever tutorial. Unluckily the interface I have used was too hard and I had some problems in turn inside out the project and the lining resulted a bit too small for the box ...but I have in mind a variation to solve the problem... :-))

Some days ago I was invited to join to the MugRug World Tour .

How many thimbles do you use for hand quilt?...usually I used just one...

...then I took hand quilting class last Sunday, and suddenly the numbers of the thimbles increased.

I was looking for an easy way to adjust the colorful hexies rosettes I made last winter.

I have started to make them without a project in mind , just followed the fun of the colors and the shape...but now I want to keep them out of the box where they were waiting for me...

Looking through the wonderful hexies book of my friend Hilde I have had the idea to place every one on a same color tone background block and then to arrange them in a rainbow colors quilt.

Blogger Quilt Festival-Spring edition

This year for the Spring edition of the Blogger's Quilt Festival I want to share a quilt that tell about friendship.

We were only people who loved quilting, Claudia, Sandra, Sonia, Luciana and I.

We only met us sometime at the same quilt-shop.

Then one day we decided to start a project together to make in the same time...a Star of Bethlehem.

We were intimidated to this pattern and to make it together gave us more courage.

It was the2007.

Believe me, all our Stars turned out simply wonderful but the better thing has been that we have become true friends.

Now we meet us every time is possible even if we live in different town and even if we are all different for age, work, and life. But we share much more as the simply quilting passion now.

This is the magic of patchwork and this is the magic of friendship.

My preferred is the Prairie points...a little chain of triangles . Sweet!

But also the Flat piping (true or simple) is really a interesting way to finish a quilt.

The authors (Liesel and Hilde) have made also another book with all the secrets to make perfect hexie. I posted here something about it. I love both the books and I'm enchanted by the quilts the authors made. So magic!

It's still winter but we have some days as Spring weather.

Also in patchwork I want something new and this book is just perfect with my feeling.

Spring colors and wonderful project for the happiness of the eyes!

The book language is nor Italian nor English nor German but Danish. Definitely I don't speak Danish but I have to say that all the North European languages have words with the same root and the same meaning and this helps....for all the remainder experience helps!
